Church mothers in the Black Baptist church are highly respected women who play a vital role in the church community:

Spiritual guidance
Church mothers are spiritual mothers who set an example for others by living a holy life and demonstrating Christian values. They are wise counselors and teachers who combine Biblical truths with practical advice.

Ministry support
Church mothers provide financial support, time, and cooperation to the church’s ministry. They assist the pastor with various tasks, such as preparing for communion, ministering to young congregants, and attending to the pastor’s wardrobe.

Women’s ministry
Church mothers help build the women’s ministry by teaching women how to be good homemakers and love their families. They also use their organizational skills to develop a strong women’s department.

Community involvement
Church mothers are often involved in the community, helping to make home, church, and community life better for all. They may visit the sick and shut-in, and bring problems within the congregation to the pastor’s attention.
